We had fun and beat the heat with one of our cool water toys. The heat index was 102 today! I finally got a small clip of Alex walking. He walks about 50% of the time and crawls the other 50. Enjoy the short clip.

Last night we had our good friends the Mullers over for dinner. We enjoyed their company as always, and welcomed for the first time into our home baby Charlie! Charlie was a perfect angel the whole night. Caroline and Ava had a blast as usual. I should have recorded them from the bedroom, all you hear is screaming and giggling the entire time they play together. They love to race up and down the hall, dressup, play babies, play castle and all the time they are playing they are doing that screaming laugh/giggle thing!! I guess it's a little girl thing. Again we had a great night and are thankful for our great friends!

We took a little trip to the Science museum yesterday, and then ventured over to Waterfront park. I must say I did not know how many great playsets there were down there as well as splash parks. They are all very nice! We had a great family fun day. We are going to Lakeside in the early evening so maybe I will add some of those pictures later, for now here are some from yesterday.

On our way up to our friend's wedding in Cincinnati on Friday my friend Jennifer called to tell us she had her sweet little baby boy Charles Alan weighing in at 8lbs, 5 ounces. He is so precious and sweet. I was able to visit him today for a little bit and chat with Jennifer who is doing very well!
The wedding was beautiful, Bert and I had a great time! We missed our kids TERRIBLY, and decided that we will take another trip up to Cincinnati with the kids to see a reds game, stay in the same hotel, and possibly the aquarium. Bert and I could not help talking about them constantly and commenting to one another how much Ava and Alex would have loved certain things on our trip. This was such a great weekend, we saw so much love! Our friends welcoming a new baby into the world, two beautiful happy people getting married, and we are celebrating Bert's dad's 77th b-day tonight. What more could you ask for!

My friend Jennifer is overdue and ready to have her baby! Bert and I were fortunate enough to watch her sweet little girl Caroline overnight when Jennifer thought she might be in labor, this means Ava had her first sleepover at age 2! Everyone did great! We had a yummy dinner at Jason's Deli, came home to play, got baths, and I put them in my bed to watch a movie. After taking some pictures of my little darlings I realized they were both about to conk out, so I left the room and sure enough when I came back to check on them they were sound asleep. Bert and I moved them into Ava's room and they both slept in her twin bed all night long! Such sweet little girls. Alex enjoyed Caroline's company as well. Tomorrow morning Bert and I are dropping the kids off at Mimi and Grandaddy's house for the weekend. Bert and I are going to Cincinnati for Jimmy and Kaite's wedding. I am going to miss my little babies, but in all honesty I am also looking forward to a relaxing weekend with my husband too! Here are some pictures of the sleepover and some pictures that my brother's girlfriend Annie took at the park.

My kids are turning copper/brown, a for sure sign summer is here! We are outside everyday in our pool or our friend's pool! My kids love playing in the water! We are keeping busy this summer having lots of fun with all our cousins and friends. Tonight Bert had guys night out and it came to my attention my sister's husband and my friends' husband also had plans this evening, so I thought it would be great if us Mommys got together with our kiddos for some pizza and cupcakes! After we swam and ate outside (look at the pictures and you will see why I made them eat their cupcakes outside,) we came in to dry off and have a dance party where everyone dressed up. I hope the summer continues to be entertaining!

I have no idea what we would do without our cousins Leo, Gus, and Tillie. They are always up for a playdate. Today we set up both pools and let the kids splash for hours. Alex's new birthday toys also kept everyone busy when it was time to come inside. Alex is such the sweetheart and didn't mind everyone playing with his new toys. I am so happy my sister and I have kids so close, they have automatic best friends!

My little baby boy is one year old today! What an exciting day it has been. We all woke up super early so I could run the 5k down at the waterfront. My little family cheered me on through the rain, and I was so happy to have them there with me. Alex's party plans have been consuming me for months, and today was the day we finally got to celebrate his big day. First birthdays are always special and a little sad. I feel as if they are graduating from baby to toddler.
At one year old Alex can almost walk. He took four steps at his birthday party for the first time!!!! He loves to stand by himself and he can stand without pulling himself up onto anything. He still prefers crawling, and I think he prefers this because he is a super fast crawler! He continues to say Da Da alot and waves goodbye. He still looks kind of tiny to me. He wears 12-18 month clothes and a size 3 shoe. He loves figuring things out like how to get into drawers, closets, opening and shutting doors, turning on and off light switches, hiding toys and finding them, and knocking things down and picking them back up.
Lots of family came over to celebrate Alex's big day, I didn't get pictures of all of them, but here are the ones I was able to get.
Alex's party went very well. The menu included BBQ, orzo pasta, corn, fruit, chips and dip, and of course cake and chocolate suckers! My brother Tommy called earlier and said he really wished he could be there, so I told him I would give him every detail I could. Alex received so many nice presents that we are so grateful for, especially another water toy to play outside with! I made a video for Alex's birthday and everyone watched it at the party. Here are some more pictures of Alex's special day. I'll try and post the video later, I can't get it to work right now.
I love you Alex you are the sweetest most precious little boy, and even though you can be a michevious little monkey, Mommy loves you more and more everyday. You are our sweet little Angel!

It was an extremely hot, humid day, but we made the best of it. We took an early morning walk at Seneca park while Daddy was at work. After the park we hit up one of our favorite stores TARGET! Target was a must because we had to purchase a gift for our BFF Caroline! We had so much fun at Caroline's Dora party. The kids enjoyed swimming in Caroline's new pool. I put in some pictures of Lourdes ride night and picnic from Thursday and Friday as well as pictures from today. I must say I didn't get that many pictures, it's hard to snap good photos when there is so much going on. The pictures I took of Ava and Alex going down the big slide at Lourdes with Uncle Nash and Daddy didn't turn out! Hopefully, I am sure there will be a next time.

My daughter is in LOVE with all things horses, so we decided to take her to the Rock Creek horse show. Ava was a little disappointed because she wanted to ride the horses and that was obviously not possible. She really enjoyed herself and that made us happy. We even got to see William Shatner. Here are a few pictures of our night out at the horse show. Does anybody know a farm in Louisville that will let 2 year old ride? I have heard of pony clubs, but they usually start at age five.
